our camping adventure

Last weekend my sister and I headed out for a one night trip on the Mantario Trail in Manitoba. We had been planning this trip since some time in winter and so even though it was raining and I am four month pregnant we headed out...
The first day we started on the trail at about noon thinking it wouldn't take us to long to get to the camp site since we have done hike like that in a couple of hours before, however the trail was really wet. That doubled with the fact that I was walking really slow after a little while meant that we didn't get all that far. After about 3.5 hours of hiking we got to a set of train tracks and checked the map to see how far we had come. Sadly it was four o'clock and we were only half way to the place we were suppose to camp. We decided that there was no way that I could walk all the way back or all the way to the camp site and we already had all our gear to spend the night, so we did. We pitched our tent on the rock (the rain stopped for a bit so we could get set up) and set up the tarp as well. Then we made supper and headed in to the tent to chat since it was warm and dry in there. We both slept pretty good and the next day we headed back to the start. The hike back seemed so much easier since it had stopped raining and we had a full nights rest. I still think it's funny that it took s that long to hike such a short way but Baby did great the whole way and we still had a good time. Maybe next year well get to the lake and campsite...
